Making a Difference by Fully Relieving Us in Control Systems

Lindor develops mixing and processing machines worldwide for delicate powders and granulates. For the complex control systems, the company works closely with VMB Automation, which provides reliable and innovative solutions through its knowledge, flexibility, and fast support – even under extreme conditions.

The Lindor gentle touch technology was developed for mixing and processing fine powders, granulates, and natural products. One of the main advantages of this technology is achieving high homogeneity in a short period of time.

Even very sensitive, fragile products can be mixed and processed without breakage or heating due to friction. At the Dordrecht location, we speak with Engineering Manager Akko van der Lee and Managing Director Bastiaan Soeteman. “The key to our success is that our mixers do not exert force on the product, but allow it to flow freely through the mixer by gravity, preventing friction or segregation. The machines are designed to mix the products without damaging them,” explains Soeteman.

Challenging Control Systems

VMB Automation is frequently called in for the control of these machines, especially when the control systems are complex or non-standard. Van der Lee explains: “Since we develop mixers for various applications, not all control systems are standard. The people at VMB have extensive knowledge, collaborate with us during engineering, and are involved from the quotation stage through production.”

Van der Lee gives examples of projects requiring challenging control systems. “For a company mixing rennet and colorants, a control system had to be created to operate under special conditions. The mixing process can now take place at -60°C, while the machine can be cleaned at +105°C. We also built a very special installation with VMB for mixing chemicals, which required exceptional safety measures.”

Flexible

The collaboration between Lindor and VMB started about five years ago. Soeteman recalls: “Together with Director Arie Verhoeven, I was on the regional board of FME. He approached me and asked if VMB could do something for us. When an installation in a factory in Saudi Arabia stopped, I contacted Arie. VMB staff immediately went there and got the installation running quickly.”

According to Van der Lee, this example is typical of VMB: “Questions are answered quickly, quotes are prepared rapidly, and if necessary, staff join meetings at our clients or monitor remotely via the internet. At VMB Automation, you can count on excellent service. The team is flexible and takes a lot of work off our hands. By fully relieving us in control systems, they make the difference.”

About Lindor

Lindor was founded in 1963 as a machine factory for local supply. Since then, the company has grown into a global supplier of powder and granulate mixers, coating, and drying systems.

Lindor focuses on the development, production, and sale of mixers for dry products, such as tea, muesli, baby food, chemicals, and detergents. The engineering department develops mixers according to customer specifications using modern CAD systems and calculation methods. To meet the demands of clients worldwide, Lindor relies on its modern factory and extensive test center, where various tests can be conducted. In addition to the test center in Dordrecht, Lindor has testing facilities in Japan, Singapore, India, and the United Kingdom.
