Automating Small Bread Crate Loading – Vallei Techniek Project
VMB Automation recently worked on a project for Vallei Techniek at a large bakery in the Netherlands. Thousands of breads are loaded into trucks for transport to stores 24 hours a day.
Before transport, several steps take place: baking the bread, packaging, labeling, placing in crates, and stacking crates. Previously, this was done manually.
Robotization and Automation of Crate Loading
The client wanted to automate the crate loading of small bread and the stacking of crates. VMB Automation handled the robot control on behalf of Vallei Techniek.
The system includes:
Two small robots that pick products from two lines and place them in crates.
One large robot that stacks the crates.
Control of the robots, including the feed conveyors, while production continued on the existing lines.
Thanks to the automation, 24,000 rolls per hour can be processed, which is significantly more efficient than manual handling.
Safety and Food Hygiene
The project took food safety and HACCP standards into account. For example, a wire tray was used instead of a cable tray to comply with applicable safety and hygiene standards.
Result
The project was completed to the full satisfaction of the client. VMB Automation delivered a complete automation solution that combines efficiency, speed, and food safety.
More information about the project can be found in NBT Magazine, the trade journal for the bakery industry.
